In a busy week for the TY students, two external judges examined their Scratch programming projects in the second strand of the SciFest@Stratford competition held on Tuesday, 8th March. Congratulations to Gabriel Messam for his individual project and to Cormac Kelly, Jake Henry and Geordan Sheridan O'Brien for their group projects - they were deemed joint winners.

On Monday, 7th March, the TY Science students were visited by two external judges as part of the SciFest@schools competition. The TYs put in a lot of work in a broad range of biodiversity projects. Well done to Alannah Anderson and Conor Doheny who were deemed the winners with their "Affirmations and Meditation" project. They will compete in the SciFest@College competition in early May.

Congratulations to the TY Library prefects - Lara McGuinness, Gina Cohen, Julia Tatar Concado, Cormac Kelly and Ryan Baker! Their entry for the World Book Day Award 2016 was listed as 'some of our other favourites'. This competition is open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK and Ireland.

For World Book Day, Thursday, 3rd March, the TY Classics students each had to read the first couple of pages of a selection of books and write a short review of them.

The TY students organised an extremely successful book sale in aid of St. Michael's House to start off events for World Book Day. The TY Library prefects had asked all students and teachers to bring in at least one book to donate to the book sale. €139 was raised - 50% for the school Library and 50% for charity.

On Tuesday, 1st March, a visitor from the ISPCC gave a talk to students in 1st, 2nd, TY and 5th year about making students aware of the supports that are in place to help prevent bullying.

For one week in mid-February, the TY class went out on work placements. The array of work experience is broad and some of the TY students reflect on their week out in the workplace.
