Our class trip to Paris was nothing short of an adventure—complete with unexpected weather, breathtaking sights, and the occasional minor disaster. The journey began as we landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport and made our way to our charming (read: small but cozy) hostel. Paris greeted us with its finest weather—pouring rain and wind strong enough to question our life choices—but we refused to be defeated.

Throughout the first term, Transition Year students explored the topic of Gastronomy in French and ended their unit with a debate opposing 4x and 4y on the following motion : "Les services de livraison de plats à emporter tels que Deliveroo ont remplacé la convivialité qu'on trouve chez nous ou au bistrot".
Stratford College had a great time celebrating Francophone week from 18th - 22nd March. In French lessons we learned about the great number of countries around the world where French is spoken, and throughout the week students created posters to celebrate these countries.
On Thursday evening, 26th October, four senior French students took part in French online debate against Belvedere College (Les Joutes Oratoires organised by the Alliance Francaise).

The TYs along with Ms dos Santos and Ms Casey, organised a European Day of Languages on Tuesday, 26th September. Flags, food and a babble of different European languages could be heard in the hall!

On Monday, 23rd January all the 5th years competed in the preliminary round of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. The qualification mark for the National Final this year was 74.9%. While no Stratford student qualified, well done to Sam who just missed out on the Finals, getting 72.98%. So, so close!

Congratulations to the 6th Year French students who competed in Les Joutes Oratoires organised by the Alliance Francaise on Wednesday, 19th October. Sean was elected best speaker and received a medal at the end of the debates!
