Stratford celebrates Purim and World Book Week

On Monday 2nd March we commenced the week long celebration of Purim and World Book Week. There were many different "fancy dresses" for each day, and full dress up day on World Book Day, Thursday.  We celebrated Purim this year with the first year Jewish students presenting our Purim Assembly this year, shared the story of Purim, traditions and customs, as well as handing out delicious 'Hamantaschan' cookies for the whole school on Tuesday, 3rd March.

Thank you to the Jewish Studies and English Departments for organising this and for all the students and staff who participated.

Skittles the Snake visits Stratford College

Thanks to Abi for bringing Skittles into our 1st year Classics class on the importance of snakes in ancient Greece. Thankfully nobody was petrified 😁

Stratford celebrates Safer Internet Day -- AI Aware: Safe, Smart, and in Control

The theme for Safer Internet Day, Tuesday 10th February, is of being AI Aware.  

In Computer Studies and SPHE classes during this week this is being explored further - how to stay safe, smart and in control. Webwise has lots of resources to make parents/guardians, students and teachers more AI Aware.

Stratford's Wellbeing theme: Own it -- Being prepared

As part of our Wellbeing theme this year, we are focusing on “Own It” — encouraging students to take positive responsibility for their daily routines, choices, and learning.

Transition Year: The Crocus Project

Transition Year History students planted yellow crocuses in the flowerbeds of the school in memory of one and a half million Jewish children who were murdered in the Holocaust and thousands of other children who were victims of the Nazis. 

Stratford's Wellbeing Theme: Own it -- Move to Feel better

It's January and believe it or not the days are getting longer!  This month's Wellbeing blog is about everyone getting more Exercise and Physical Activity – Move to Feel Better. Ms Finnegan explains why this really matters and wants you to Own It.

Stratford's Breakfast Club: The Early Risers

Our new club, The Early Risers started at the beginning of the school year last August and runs every morning from 7:45 to 8:45 in the Hall.

Mitzvah Week: Giving Back to Our Community

From December 9th to 12th, Stratford College celebrated Mitzvah – Wellbeing Week, a time dedicated to kindness, reflection, and action. As part of our commitment to Global Citizenship Education, Student Council and staff organized a fundraiser in support of Focus Ireland, helping those affected by homelessness.

Mitzvah Week: Music at Orwell Nursing Home

On Wednesday, the 10th of December, some students from Stratford College performed at the Orwell House Nursing Home. This was part of our Mitzvah Week programme which is dedicated to giving back to our community and encouraging kindness.

Bi Cinealta "The Power to do Good" - Anti-Bullying & Mitzvah Week

This week in school we are marking Anti-Bullying Week alongside Mitzvah Week, with the shared theme “The Power to Do Good.” Throughout the week, students will take part in activities and discussions that promote kindness, respect, inclusion and positive action. 

As part of this focus, we are delighted to share with you our new Bí Cineálta (Be Kind) Anti-Bullying Policy, which reflects our commitment to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive school environment for all students. Bí Cineálta is the national framework that supports schools in preventing and addressing bullying behaviour. You can read the policy here.
