Parent Testimonials

Academically, for us there is an ideal balance across the sciences, humanities, arts and sport. Sport is genuinely inclusive and fun, and is balanced nicely with the rigours of regular tests and exams across their subjects.
Our children are happy going to school every morning, they feel that they belong there, and they are known and valued as individuals, and they are thriving.
They have the opportunity to study all three science subjects for Leaving Cert, or Film, Theatre and Drama Studies, or Computer Science - a breadth of subjects that is remarkable for a small school, and unavailable in many other schools.
The standard of teaching is excellent, but just as importantly, the teachers really know their students.
It feels as though Stratford is ahead of the curve on so many developments, and our children benefit from that.
There is a warmth to the school that is difficult to put into words and, in our experience, quite unparalleled. Students are treated as young adults - with respect, trust and kindness.
We also hugely value the diversity of the school community. Our children are forming friendships with students from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives, while gathering the knowledge, experiences and understanding of others that will equip them for life beyond school.
As parents, it is difficult to ask for much more from a school. We are so glad we chose Stratford College for our family.
We have two children in Stratford College who've had a wholly positive experience from their very first day. What stands out most for us as parents is something very simple, but incredibly important: our children genuinely love Stratford.
What makes the school stand out is the combination of academic ambition with genuine humanity. Our children are being encouraged to think critically, to question, to participate and to become thoughtful, capable young adults. Most importantly, they are very happy while doing it!

Transition into Stratford College

To ensure students transition as smoothly as possible into Junior Cycle we have the following arrangements in place.

  • Our Annual Open Day in September.
  • Request in January for additional information, if any.
  • A new parent’s enrolment meeting in March every year, to give parents a chance to meet teaching staff and other families. This ensures they get more familiar with the school before 1st Year begins.
  • In April/May students attend an Orientation Day to meet their classmates, see around the school and hear from our current 1st Years about their subjects, books, timetables and books. This makes them more comfortable with the transition from their primary schools to Stratford.
  • In August 1st Years begin the day before the rest of the school ensuring they have their lockers, timetables and have met their Class Tutor and some of their subject teachers before everyone else.
  • A mentor system to ensure 1st Years have an older student to guide and support them during those first few weeks of term.
  • In September we hold an information meeting for 1st Year parents on Study Skills.
  • In October the Parents Association (PA) holds its AGM.
  • Parent -teacher meeting, progress reports and house exams follow.
