The theme for Safer Internet Day, Tuesday 10th February, is of being AI Aware.
In Computer Studies and SPHE classes during this week this is being explored further - how to stay safe, smart and in control. Webwise has lots of resources to make parents/guardians, students and teachers more AI Aware.

As part of our Wellbeing theme this year, we are focusing on “Own It” — encouraging students to take positive responsibility for their daily routines, choices, and learning.

The National Holocaust Memorial Day Commemoration took place on Sunday the 25th of January, organised by Holocaust Education Ireland. Every year it is held on the closest Sunday to the 27th of January as International Holocaust Memorial Day marks the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1945. This year it was held in The Royal Hospital Kilmainham and students and staff attended. Students from Stratford College are invited every year to read from the Scroll of Names which is a list of relatives of Irish people who lost their lives in the Holocaust. For some of these people we know where they were born, where they died or how old they were, for others we have only their names. Through reading the scroll we remember all of these people. This years readers were TY students: Laila, Ciara and Julia.

On Friday afternoon, 23rd January, we had the privilege of welcoming Tánaiste Simon Harris to Stratford College. Upon arrival, we met himself and local TD James Geoghegan before Mr. Harris addressed the school. He spoke to us on a matter of issues, including how he became interested in politics, the importance of young people within it, and social media and its mental health implications.

End of term 1 report: January 2026
Background:
In August 2025, Teaching and Learning Targets were set for Term 1 2025–2026 on our return to school. These targets were guided by feedback received from all stakeholders in May 2025 through surveys of all stakeholders, staff & student focus groups, and staff discussion. Post December 2025 House-Exams, surveys were sent to all stakeholders (parents, students and teachers). This feedback alongside ‘focus group’ feedback (Student Council, Parent-Teacher meetings, staff meetings such as Year Head Meetings and Senior Management meetings) will guide future targets.

Speaking to RTE's News at One, Mr. Barrett, who welcomes the funding for the Holocaust education programme said "All students in Ireland, whether they are taking junior or senior cycle, would be exposed to the Holocaust.
