Playing sports is linked to lower levels of anxiety and depression in teenagers - new DCU research explores the link between physical inactivity and mental health issues
Stratford College took part in the Physical Activity and Wellbeing Study (PAWS) by DCU researchers exploring the association between physical activity and mental wellbeing in adolescents.
Previous studies have examined physical activity levels in adolescents in Ireland as well as the prevalence of mental health distress but this is the first study to explore the association between physical activity levels and mental health in the same cohort.
They surveyed over 5,661 adolescents from 79 post-primary schools nationwide between September & October 2019 and had some significant findings.

In Stratford digital teaching and learning when in school or at a distance is well provided for. MS Teams and Stratford 365 are our platforms and SchoolWise is our Learning Management System (LMS). Students are using their own devices, instead of hard copy text books, working collaboratively on- line and are sent homework by email every evening. Policies such as our Acceptable User Policy (AUP), Code of Positive Behaviour and GDPR have been adapted. Together Apart!
