Tánaiste Simon Harris visits Stratford College

On Friday afternoon, 23rd January, we had the privilege of welcoming Tánaiste Simon Harris to Stratford College.  Upon arrival, we met himself and local TD James Geoghegan before Mr. Harris addressed the school.  He spoke to us on a matter of issues, including how he became interested in politics, the importance of young people within it, and social media and its mental health implications. 

We then ran a Q&A with questions coming directly from the student body, before the Tánaiste spoke separately with Jewish students.  In this sobering discussion, the problem of antisemitism was brought up, with the Jewish students bravely sharing their own experiences of it.  Photos were then taken at both the school and in Herzog Park before the visit drew to a close.  We all enjoyed the Tánaiste's visit; it was a great opportunity to display Stratford at its best and push for government action against antisemitism.

Stratford College, Principal, Nathan Barrett welcomes funding for Holocaust education programme

Speaking to RTE's News at One, Mr. Barrett, who welcomes the funding for the Holocaust education programme said "All students in Ireland, whether they are taking junior or senior cycle, would be exposed to the Holocaust.

Stratford College chess team through to Semi-Finals

Stratford College chess team beat Our Lady’s School, Terenure convincingly and are now through to the semi-finals in the tournament. Congratulations to all students and to Dr. Ryan.

Stratford at Stripe YSTE 2026 - 2 projects, 3 awards. 5th Years win Runner Up Group Award!

What a Stripe Young Scientist and Technology 2026 experience for our two Stratford College groups competing in this year's competition! 

The whole of Stratford College and community are so, so proud of 5th Year students, Hao Wen and Ritvik, for winning one of the top four awards in this year's competition - the Runner Up Group Award. They also won the Institute of Physics Special Award. A big thank you to Dr Ryan for mentoring the 5th year students. Major congratulations to TY students Callum and Sanket for getting a Highly Commended award for their FluxChess project in a very challenging category, mentored by Ms O'Kelly. 

School Self-Evaluation Surveys, January 2026: Teaching and Learning

As part of School Self-Evaluation on Teaching and Learning, all stakeholders are asked to give feedback through surveys sent in December-January. Teachers set Teaching and Learning goals in August 2025 & review these goals and feedback throughout the year.

Stratford's Breakfast Club: The Early Risers

Our new club, The Early Risers started at the beginning of the school year last August and runs every morning from 7:45 to 8:45 in the Hall.

TY host quiz and raffle in aid of Focus Ireland

Our Transition Year students organised a fantastic quiz for our last day of Winter term.  So much fun was had by all teams, each as competitive as the other.  

Green Schools: Seven Green Schools flags and counting

Green Schools are very proud to display the seven Green School flags that have been awarded to Stratford College over the past ten years. The pennants are currently on show in the Classics room and will be moved to a more prominent position for everyone to see in January.
