Stratford College awarded Amber Flag for promoting Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing

Ms Finnegan received exciting news in mid-May to hear that Stratford College had been awarded the Pieta Amber Flag for promoting Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing. The awarding committee found that Stratford has shown great commitment in promoting positive mental health by encouraging teamwork and contributions from peers in all aspects of Stratford school life throughout 2024-2025. 

Stratford celebrates Wellbeing Week - 'Healthy Body, Healthy Mind'!

Stratford's Summer term started with a bang with a Wellbeing celebration week called "Healthy Body, Healthy Mind" from Monday, 29th April through to Friday 3rd May. 

The DES has asked all schools to Consult With their School Communities on the Use Of Smart Phones And Tablet Devices in Schools

Stratford College will consult with staff, students and parents in the coming days.

Arts Week Treasure Hunt

TYs and Ms Reynolds organised a Treasure Hunt with historical/cultural clues around Rathgar and Terenure. Sophie Manaeva (TY) explains what was involved.

Wellbeing: Student Voice

It is acknowledged that the Wellbeing of young people is enhanced when their views and suggestions are sought and there is a meaningful response to them (Flynn, 2014). Listen to two Stratford College students give informed feedback on their experience with Digital Portfolios and their Digital Grade Profile as part of their Junior Cycle English learning.

After school sports activities all up and running

Ms. Finnegan spoke at a school assembly in the first weeks of the new term to explain how important it is for everyone to take part in sport and PE in school and how it is significant for everyone's wellbeing. Read through the list of after school sports activities which are now all started.

After School Yoga classes

Feedback from students through the Sports surveys undertaken earlier in the year, showed that a significant number of students wanted to do Yoga classes. This was duly organised by Ms Finnegan mid-way through the year and was extremely well attended and liked.

Arts Week 2015 - art and wellbeing

Wellbeing Arts Week 2015 lived up to the posters! Held from Monday, 16th November through to Friday, 20th November, there were activities and workshops for every student and teacher alike. Watch the video of photographs taken throughout the week to the soundtrack of the whole school choir! Kate Dempsey, 6th Year, reviewed the week at the 6th Year assembly held in late November.

Junior cycle reform: ‘Wellbeing’ a first-year subject in 2017

Subject will be integrated across junior cycle by 2020 as part of revised reform timetable. A new subject of wellbeing will be introduced to students starting the first year of secondary school in September 2017 under a revised timetable for the roll out of junior cycle reforms published Monday.
