Sound Composer Visits Drama, Film & Theatre Studies class

The 5th Year Drama, Film and Theatre Studies class had a wonderful masterclass with Sound Designer and Composer Jody Trehy last week. Jody spoke to the class about his experience working in the music industry in Dublin, and his passion for musicals, and particularly how they are an under-appreciated artform, with great potential for subversion. He described the different roles of producer, director and composer, the process and challenges with getting projects funded, and the amount of dedication and years of work that's involved. 

TY Weekly: Leaving Certificate Subject Choice, GoQuest, Climbing

TYs are busy experiencing and exploring Leaving Cert subject choices. There are also a variety of expeditions to GoQuest and BLOC Climbing centre. Ciara in TY reports on all the latest workshops and events in 4th Year!

Senior Cycle Subject Fair for Transition Year Students

On Thursday 26th February Transition Year students participated in a Senior Cycle Subject Fair. In session one we had an opportunity to speak with 5th years about the subjects they had chosen.  During session 2, the teachers presented their individual subjects to us outlining curriculum content and assessment details.  Next, students have the chance to sit in on senior cycle classes.  Hopefully we will be well informed in advance of picking our subjects for Leaving Cert.

Victory in East Dublin Schools Basketball matches

What an exciting match in the East Dublin Schools tournament.  Our 2nd year boys won by 1 basket 25-23, when the game went to extra time.  A fantastic game played by all. 

2nd Years participate in Fast Fashion workshop by repairing clothes

On Tuesday, the 24th of February, the second years took part in a Fast Fashion workshop hosted by Leah Gaynor from Oxfam. There, we learned all about ethical fashion and how companies use greenwashing as a deceptive marketing tactic. We watched a video on clothing waste in the global south, and it is safe to say the statistics were appalling. 

Mid-Term Treat from Student Council

Thank you to Student Council who served hot chocolate to all students in recognition of a great start to 2026 and for JC and LC mocks coming to an end.  Best wishes to everyone for mid-term break which commences today, 13th February. 

1st Year History students visit National Museum of Ireland

On Tuesday the 10th of February, we went to the National Museum of Ireland on Kildare Street. We took the 15B into town first thing in the morning and we got off on George’s Street and walked to the museum from there. 

Japanese PhD student observes 5th Year Drama, Film and Theatre Studies class for her studies

The 5th year Drama, Film and Theatre Studies class were very honoured to host Professor Momiji Ujii from Tokyo, Japan for two days of observation of how we are implementing this new subject. Momiji is studying for a PhD in 'Exploring the Educational Significance of Drama in Cultural Citizenship Education: Focusing on “Drama, Film, and Theatre Studies” in Ireland' and how this new subject and teaching methodologies foster creativity, collaboration, and student participation.

Stratford celebrates Safer Internet Day -- AI Aware: Safe, Smart, and in Control

The theme for Safer Internet Day, Tuesday 10th February, is of being AI Aware.  

In Computer Studies and SPHE classes during this week this is being explored further - how to stay safe, smart and in control. Webwise has lots of resources to make parents/guardians, students and teachers more AI Aware.
