On Monday 2nd March we commenced the week long celebration of Purim and World Book Week. There were many different "fancy dresses" for each day, and full dress up day on World Book Day, Thursday. We celebrated Purim this year with the first year Jewish students presenting our Purim Assembly this year, shared the story of Purim, traditions and customs, as well as handing out delicious 'Hamantaschan' cookies for the whole school on Tuesday, 3rd March.

The 5th Year Computer Science class visited Google HQ, Barrow Street on Friday 6th March to participate in an event celebrating International Women's Day with Ms O'Kelly and Dr McAdoo. We heard from many inspiring female Google engineers about their varied academic studies and career paths.

Students were tasked with the activity to design their own newspaper called "The Roman Times".
All students submitted excellent entries as part of a 3 week homework task. It was challenging to say the least for staff to select winners! Here are some flavours of the calibre, creativity, innovation and outstanding knowledge and application.

The 5th Year Drama, Film and Theatre Studies class had a wonderful masterclass with Sound Designer and Composer Jody Trehy last week. Jody spoke to the class about his experience working in the music industry in Dublin, and his passion for musicals, and particularly how they are an under-appreciated artform, with great potential for subversion. He described the different roles of producer, director and composer, the process and challenges with getting projects funded, and the amount of dedication and years of work that's involved.

On Thursday 26th February Transition Year students participated in a Senior Cycle Subject Fair. In session one we had an opportunity to speak with 5th years about the subjects they had chosen. During session 2, the teachers presented their individual subjects to us outlining curriculum content and assessment details. Next, students have the chance to sit in on senior cycle classes. Hopefully we will be well informed in advance of picking our subjects for Leaving Cert.
