First up were the Juniors, who took the Proposition for the motion ‘Gen Z has the Power to End Global Poverty’. Under Captain Amélie, Anna, Cian and Jack expertly argued their case, that thanks to Gen Z’s track record in mobilising massive protests with the Black Lives Matter Movement, Fridays for Future, their focus on highlighting the impacts of the Fast Fashion Industry and the most recent SNA Review turnaround, proved their point that Gen Zers have the tools, conscience and economic clout to indeed end Global Poverty.
Next up were the Seniors, who took the Proposition on the motion ‘Significant Progress is Being Made Towards Achieving Gender Equality in the 21st Century’. Under the brilliant leadership of Captain Ciara, Mari, Julia and Joseph took on this challenging motion, and argued that progress is undeniable with the levels of girls excelling in education and how more girls are entering STEM fields than ever before. The team argued that steady progress is being made since the 20th Century, including women’s representation in government and the role of women in the workplace, and significant improvements in women’s health. They concluded that gender equality ultimately benefits everyone in society.
