Purim celebrated on a very snowy day on Thursday, 1st March

This year Purim, the "Festival of Lots" which commemorates the events which took place in the Persian royal city of Susa, Shushan in Hebrew, during the reign of King Achashverosh (thought to be Artaxerxes), was on a very snowy day in Dublin - Thursday, 1st March. While the school was closed due to Storm Emma it was still celebrated. The 1st Year class made a video for Purim, which you can watch on the Stratford YouTube channel.

Friendship Week: fun, kindness and laughter

Friendship Week was held immediately after mid-term, from Monday 19th February through to Friday, 23rd February. There were lots of Friendship themed events throughout the week culminating in a Friendship Fair on the Friday where the National School pupils came over to the secondary school. Laura Kelly in TY helped out at the Friendship Fair and writes about the morning.

Stratford attends official launch of Leaving Certificate Computer Science

Richard Bruton, Minister for Education and Skills spoke at the official NCCA launch of Leaving Certificate Computer Science on Monday, 5th March. Professor Brendan Tangney gave the keynote address and will also be talking at Stratford's official launch of teaching Computer Science at 7pm on Thursday, 8th March. All are welcome to attend.

5th Years hear Cillian Murphy talk at Youth Empathy Day in NUI Galway

Mr. Priestley and Mr. Fennell, with a large group of 5th years and some TYs, visited NUI Galway on Thursday, 1st February to participate in Youth Empathy Day, organised by the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre. Actor and patron of the centre, Cillian Murphy attended and spoke with the students - including Stratford students.
