The Great Reads Award 2017 is up and running, with the shortlisted books now available to borrow from the Library. Now in its second year, the Great Reads Award is organised by the School Library Association in Ireland (SLARI). Students read the books and rate them in two categories - Junior and Senior. The author with the most ratings in each category win a prize. The school with the most rating entries also win a prize!

Ms Donohoe and Ms. Caspi brought the TY students around Dublin city centre on Thursday, 27th April to examine the interior and exterior of many stunning neo-classical buildings that populate our city centre. A number of TY students comment on the morning's tour.

During 1st Year History and Computer Studies classes, students worked in groups to create one minute Stop Motion videos on a Medieval History topic of their choice. Work started in December and were finalised in early February. 1st Year student, Itai Barhen, explains what is involved in making a Stop Motion video. A selection of the videos were shown at the 1st Year Assembly on 27th April.

From Sunday, 2nd April through to Tuesday, 4th April a group of TY students and 5th Year students went to Krakow on a History trip. Highlights of the trip included visiting the Wieliczka Salt Mines, Oscar Schindler's Factory and a guided tour of Krakow. The trip also included a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Ms. Kenny, Ms. Finnegan and Ms. Fanning are in Krakow for a few days with a group of TY students and some 5th years for a history trip of Krakow. The flew out on Sunday, 2nd April and will return on Tuesday, 4th April. We look forward to hearing the stories and seeing the photos of a most memorable trip.
