Science Week 2018: from Art to Animals to Sensory Workshops

Science Week 2018 (12th - 16th November) was celebrated in a myriad of different ways throughout the week. The TYs organised a week of workshops and events in the hall and the 2nd Years went to the National Gallery of Ireland to see the "Art in Mind - How Nature Inspires" Exhibition. Student achievements celebrated at Awards Ceremony

Student Council hosted the Awards Ceremony on Friday, 26th October. The Awards Ceremony celebrates the achievements of excellence by Stratford students in the Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle, as well as leadership, sporting and extra-curricular activities during the school year 2017-2018.

TYs introduced to Chinese music

Thanks to Yogi in TY for introducing his classmates and Ms Donohoe to the Erhu (Chinese violin) on Wednesday, 3rd October. 

Transition Year Exploring the Student Experience Irish Second Level Students Union (ISSU)

The question of whether TY is worthwhile has certainly been brought up as an issue, especially in the context of the new Junior Cycle Student Award and the reforms that it brings to our education system.

Many of the skills that the Junior Cycle Student Award aims to promote and develop are those that TY currently provides; the question is now how TY will need to change  to complement the Junior and Senior Cycles, and provide a unique learning experience for students.

Stratford joins Senior Social Innovation Action Programme

Students work in teams, explore social issues that concern them and develop and implement creative responses and solutions to social need. Learning is youth-led and value-based, infused with an understanding of human rights, ethics and how innovation contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Certification is given to young social innovators on completion of the programme. Click here for more details.

TYs go paintballing

The TYs, Ms Finnegan and Ms Donohoe drove off on their paintballing adventure on Thursday, 13th September. Competition was fierce! Everyone had a good afternoon.

TYs having a wonderful time in Delphi

The TYs headed to Delphi Outdoor Adventure Centre early on Monday morning, 3rd September. They are due back on Thursday, 6th September. 

TYs perform 'Annie' for Stratford National School

The TYs and a number of Junior students have been working hard over the past few months under the experienced hand of Ms Conlon. On Friday, 18th May the performance was seen by Stratford N.S. pupils who really loved the event!

TY French students are the oral examiners with 1st and 2nd years

Students of Transition Year who sat DELF exams as part of the TY French programme acted as oral examiners to first and second year students for end of year exams.
