Mitzvah Week: Giving Back to Our Community

From December 9th to 12th, Stratford College celebrated Mitzvah – Wellbeing Week, a time dedicated to kindness, reflection, and action. As part of our commitment to Global Citizenship Education, Student Council and staff organized a fundraiser in support of Focus Ireland, helping those affected by homelessness.

Friday 12th December was filled with energy and community spirit! Students enjoyed a Basketball Blitz on the courts and a screening of Inside Out 2 in the hall, creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere. These activities weren’t just about entertainment—they were about coming together for a meaningful cause.

So far, we’ve raised €733.15, and we’re aiming for €1,000! The Student Council will continue selling raffle tickets from December 15th to 19th, and you can also contribute via QR code. The raffle draw will take place during the Transition Year End of Term Quiz on Friday, December 19th. A big thank you to local businesses for sponsoring prizes and to everyone who has supported us so far.

This initiative encourages students to think critically about global issues such as homelessness, poverty, climate change, and inequality—and to understand the importance of doing a Mitzvah (a good deed).

Let’s keep the momentum going and reach our target! Every contribution makes a difference.

Appointment of Delia Donohoe to Permanent Deputy Principal

Delia Donohoe has been appointed as Permanent Deputy Principal of Stratford College, following her tenure as Acting Deputy Principal since August 2023. This milestone marks her 21st year as a dedicated member of the Stratford community, where she has made a lasting contribution both in the classroom and in leadership.

Speaking about her appointment Chair of the Board of Management Ms. Aoife Cassidy said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Delia as Deputy Principal; she has been a leader and teacher at Stratford College for more than 20 years. During this time, she has served in an acting capacity as Deputy Principal, including over the last three years. She has strong leadership skills and an unwavering commitment and dedication to our school community. We have every confidence that she will continue to lead with the same energy, warmth and dedication in the years ahead. We are delighted to formally confirm Delia’s appointment and wish her every success in the role going forward.
