On Wednesday, the 10th of December, some students from Stratford College performed at the Orwell House Nursing Home. This was part of our Mitzvah Week programme which is dedicated to giving back to our community and encouraging kindness.
We had performances from the band, Tam on the clarinet, Hao Wen on the violin, Howard and Sophia on the piano, guitarist Conall and Reuben, and singers Frans, Hayley, Talma and Lucy, accompanied on piano by Mr Barrett. In the audience was a past Principal of Stratford College, Colette O'Broin who we had the pleasure of meeting after our performance. We hope that the residents enjoyed the concert as much as we enjoyed performing.

The TY Horticulture class were out in the Autumn sunshine planting Spring bulbs using the chaos planting method. This is when a multitude of different spring bulbs (Hyacinths, Daffodils, Tulips, Crocuses, Narcissi) are mixed together and randomly planted so that we have a mixture of flowers and patterns emerging in the spring. It mimics nature and so is more enticing to pollinators and native insects that need the food in Spring.
