We're all thrilled for our 3rd and 4th Year students who are competing in this year's BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, starting 8th January to 11th January! Best of luck to Ciara and Callum with their BUZZ project and to Noah, Ritvik and Hao Wen with their K.E.V.I.N. project.

We encourage everyone to visit our students in the RDS!

PR04343 - KEVIN - An AI model for diagnosing Keratoconus
Keratoconus is a progressive corneal disease which is famously hard to diagnose due to its similarities to other diseases. Additionally, there is great room for human error in the diagnosis. To try and tackle this problem, we have created KEVIN (Keratoconus Examination using pyramidal Vision transformers, Instance discrimination with multi-crop , cut-mix, and siamese Neural networks), an AI model which can be a tool to assist in the diagnostic process. We believe our model will be better equipped to process edge cases than other AI models which have been used for this purpose.

PR04927 - Buzz – Your Enterprise Trigger Word Deterrent
We wish to solve the problem of employees breaching company policies over audio calls. We aim to solve this problem through our computer program, Buzz. This program will identify and flag trigger words when spoken in real time and log them to ensure proper action will be taken by employers. We aim to complete this using the Python programming language and Speech Recognition API's (i.e Google / Microsoft Azure / Vosk Speech Recognition API's) There is no program on the market like this, so we want to fix this issue to make the lives of employers easier.
