The TY students, with the help of students from other years, have produced a beautiful magazine in both printed and digital format in recognition of the 1916 Centenary. Work started last October during History, Irish and Computer Studies classes to research and write historical, cultural and literary articles. Browse through the digital version.
The TY students, with the help of students from other years, have produced this beautiful magazine - 'Claidheamh Soluis Choláiste Stratford 2016' - in both print and digital formats, to celebrate the 1916 Centenary. It contains articles researched during the History classes, along with poetry, short stories and cultural articles written during Irish classes, as well as articles based on museum visits during Arts Week 2015.
Work started last October on this important project, with the aim of the magazine being launched on Proclamation Day at the annual Seachtain na Gaeilge concert (Tuesday, 15th March). The design of the magazine was undertaken by the TYs, as was the digital production of the magazine using MS-Publisher during Computer Studies classes. This project was done as part of the ECDL Computing Curriculum module - Digital Media.

Our Transition Year (TY) students hosted a successful coffee morning in the school hall to raise funds for Our Lady's Hospice & Care Services in Harold's Cross. Year groups visited the hall in turn for tea, coffee, and treats. Thanks to Ms. Maxwell, Ms. Talbot, Ms. McGill and all our TY students.

On Wednesday, the 23rd of September, a group of us TY students had the opportunity to welcome Irish writer Elaine Garvey to our school, where we took part in a two-hour workshop with her. On Friday the 25th of September, we embarked on our weekly trip which brought us northside, to Glasnevin Cemetery, so write Ianis, Vihaan and Matthew B (TY Weekly editors).
Some of our Chinese students celebrated the Mooncake Festival this morning with traditional treats, and stories about the holiday. The round shape of the mooncakes mirrors the bright harvest moon, symbolizing family togetherness and completeness.
