6th Year student wins two awards at Fresh Film Festival 2021

Congratulations to Nellie Warren (6th Year) who won two awards at the 2021 Fresh Film Festival on Friday, 26th March for her short film 'buachaill': Cartoon Saloon Award for Best Animation and the Highly Commended Storytelling Award.

Congratulations to Jonah Miller (TY) who also reached the 2021 Fresh Film Festival finals with his short film 'There is no I in Team'.

TY Quantum computing language project wins two awards at 2021 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition

Congratulations to Ayush Tambde (TY) who was awarded the following prizes at the 2021 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition on Friday, 8th January:

  • 1st Prize Individual Intermediate Technology
  • Stripe Special Award for "most ambitious use of software in enabling a device or creating a service which will likely have a significant economic and/or social impact when deployed at scale"

Three 3rd Years win 2nd prize in Classics Now National competition

Congratulations to 3rd Year Classical Studies students Daniel Corboy, Josh Taylor and Sam O'Dwyer who won 2nd prize in the Classics Now competition for secondary students. Classics Now is a cultural festival.

Two 5th Years win award at SciFest National Finals 2020

Congratulations to Finn Nankivell and Cian Glynn in 5th Year who won the "Berlin Long Night of Science" Award at the online SciFest National Finals on 21st November for their coding project called "Lost" which they started in TY. They won a three-day trip to Berlin in June 2021 to celebrate its Long Night of Science - when Berlin opens up its labs, libraries and musuems.

Three Leaving Certificate Computer Science students accepted to participate on IBM Quantum Computing course

Congratulations to Zack Musumeci (6th Year), Mia Quirke (5th Year) and Josh Wynne (5th Year) who successfully applied to the IBM course on Introduction to Quantum Computing with lectures from MIT, Boston and Oxford University. The course started on 18th October 2020 and continues through to May 2021.

TY students win key awards at SciFest@TU Blanchardstown for their coding projects

Congratulations to TY students Finn Nankivell, Cian Glynn and Sid Katepally for winning the overall award and the SpecSavers award at this year's online SciFest hosted by TU Blanchardstown in May 2020. They now go on to compete in the online SciFest National Finals in late November with their game called 'Lost' for visually impaired. They coded it in Scratch.

Congratulations too to TY students Alex Cooke and Ross Gaynor who won the Intel Technology award for their project which was coded in Scratch and used Micro:bits.

Nellie Warren published in Irish Times "Fighting Words" supplement for a second time

Congratulations to 5th Year student, Nellie Warren, for being published for a second time in the Irish Times "Fighting Words" supplement on 12th May 2020. Her story is called "The Definition of Lonely". Nellie's writing was featured in the 2018 "Fighting Words" supplement.
