Teaching and learning about global justice themes through a global justice lens and enabling students to act and engage in activities that promote knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to become global citizens is a key component of this work in Subject Departments and in school life, this work continues beyond the classroom, into extra-curricular activities, student leadership and school events.
Our approach to Global Citizenship Education complements the National Youth Strategy (2015) which places the student at the centre of a participative learning process where young people are 'socially included, environmentally aware, their equality and rights upheld, their diversity celebrated and are empowered to be active global citizens. Young people's autonomy is supported, their active citizenship fostered, and they have a strong voice through political, social and civic engagement.'
