Transition Years welcomed Saul Woolfson, Director of JACI Programme and Steven Jaffe, Director of Belfast Jewish Heritage, historian and lawyer from JACI to the school on the 21st of November for a Heritage Trail Presentation.
(Jewish Arts and Culture Ireland (JACI) are a branch of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland with the aim of fostering and supporting the arts relating to Jewish culture and heritage in Ireland)
Steven Jaffe spoke about the process of researching and creating a Jewish heritage trail, and the history of Jewish culture and heritage in Belfast as part of the JACI programme.
Transition Year students will work with their teachers in the creation of their own Dublin Jewish Heritage walking tour inspired by the work of Steven Jaffe. We look forward to this exciting local history project and the opportunity to learn about the history, culture and impact of the Jewish community in Dublin in the Spring term.
Steven Jaffe explained about the map that was created on belfastjewishheritage.org as an example of a digital historical artefact.
