NEWS / 12 December 2025

The TY students have been working on their Scratch group projects since September and on Thursday 11th December were ready to present their projects to two external judges in SciFest@School. Congratulations to Alanna, Ciara and Fionn who won 1st prize! There were many other prizes amongst TYs.

Thanks to Hugo Rowsome from SciFest and to Brian Gillespie, Computer Science lecturer from TU Dublin who gave so generously of their time. They were both very impressed with the diversity of ideas, design thinking and creative coding amongst all of the groups.

Mr Barrett also attended the judging and was very impressed with the range of ideas and coding skills.

The prize winners were:

  • 1st prize: Alanna, Ciara and Fionn
  • 2nd prize: Sanket, Callum and Mishael
  • EirGrid Cleaner Climate Special Award: Glen, Abby and Lucy
  • Keenova STEM Technology Special Award: Julia and Liam
  • Highly Commended: Grace, Mia and Darragh
  • Highly Commended: Hiwot

The next step is to compete at SciFest@College level next May. Good luck!
