On Wednesday, 3rd May three groups of TY students went to IT Blanchardstown to compete in the SciFest@Colleges level of the competition. Two groups had Scratch programming projects and the third group had a Science project. James O'Brien writes about the day.

Three groups of three or four people entered the SciFest competition from our school. The group projects were as follows:

  • 'S.O.S'. : James, Eoin, Sam and Bogdan
  • 'Hide from Yo Wife!' : Ana, Cath and Megan
  • 'How Music Affects the Growth of Plants': Grace, Molly, Lauren and Rebecca

There were lots of different groups from several different schools that entered SciFest and it was interesting to see all the different projects. We entered two group projects into the Technology section and one group into the Biology/Physical Science section.

Although we didn't win any of the prizes, we thought it was a great learning experience for public speaking and project management. We thoroughly enjoyed the time that we spent creating the project and the time we spent presenting at the event. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who is considering entering SciFest.
