Six TY students competed at the College level of SciFest hosted by the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown on Wednesday, 6th May. The TY students competed at the Intermediate level of the Technology section with their Scratch projects. Moya McCrea, TY student, writes about the day.

For a module in Computer Studies, TYs were put into teams and had to make their own Scratch programming game. There was an in-house judging for SciFest in March, where 3 teams were picked to go through to SciFest at a regional level. It was held in Blanchardstown College.

When we arrived at Blanchardstown each team had to set up thier display with posters and information abou their project.

Throughout the day various judges came around to judge our project. After a lunch break, prizes were given out for different categories. We were then split into two groups. One did workshops, the other went to talks from people who work in science.

There was around 500 students from different schools around Dublin so it was tough competition but it was an enjoyable day out. It was interesting to look at other people's projects and to listen to the guest speakers.
