TY Crocus Project Dec2025 IMG 2555
NEWS / 7 January 2026

Transition Year History students planted yellow crocuses in the flowerbeds of the school in memory of one and a half million Jewish children who were murdered in the Holocaust and thousands of other children who were victims of the Nazis.

The project is a commemoration to all children lost in conflicts, past and present. The crocuses usually bloom at the end of January or the beginning of February, around the time of International Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January). See www.holocausteducationireland.org

The whole of Stratford College and community are so, so proud of 5th Year students, Hao Wen and Ritvik, for winning one of the top four awards in this year's competition - the Runner Up Group Award. They also won the Institute of Physics Special Award. A big thank you to Dr Ryan for mentoring the 5th year students. Major congratulations to TY students Callum and Sanket for getting a Highly Commended award for their FluxChess project in a very challenging category, mentored by Ms O'Kelly.
