On Thursday, 27th April we went on a trip to Dublin to do a workshop using soldering iron. We were taught how to do it in the safest way. We were given an LED light, circuit board, battery and a piece of iron. We needed to put everything in the right place to make the LED light work. If we missed any part of the process then it wouldn't work at all.
Our instructors showed us how to do it and explained the safety rules of this part because the solder flux we used was extremely hot. Its temperature was about 200 degrees!
It took a bit of time to solder carefully every part of the iron. After we have soldered every part of the iron in the right place, we put the battery on its place on the circuit board. The result? The light worked!! I personally think that this was a very fun activity and I would like to do soldering in the future again. See also the Tech Week 2017 blog for other activities.
