NEWS / 17 December 2024

December 10th and 11th saw Stratford College's Drama Club play, 'Happily Never After' come to the live stage.  Everyone from students to parents are buzzing with excitement and pride. Drama students are proud to be 'theatre kids' after a spectacular performance and many months of dedicated hard work.

Happily Never After is set in fairytale times where everyone is living quite peacefully. Peaceful until the evil villains band together to put a stop to all the happiness and cheer across Pantoland. Things go downhill fast after that for all the good guys. When all hope is lost, everyone swarms to find the Fairy Godmother to help them with her magic but discover that the Fairy Godmother's wand is missing. After realising their heavy reliance on the magic of the Fairy Godmother, they decide to stand on their own two feet and find happiness without the help of magic. The villain's however despise this and decide to stop them. A battle between Good and Evil ensues, but who will win?

The preparation for this play was Herculean. Members of the Stratford Drama Club dedicated many hours of their time to perfect this performance. The lively and enthusiastic energy these students give is a sight to be seen. Facing impossible obstacles, the members of the drama club encountered barriers such as script changes (many thanks to Hao Wen Liu), dance choreography, lighting, sound and most importantly, acting in front of an audience. The drama crew gave a spectacular show on both nights. Performing in front of an audience is no easy feat and yet everyone gave their best. Special mention to Ofri Caspi for filling in the crucial role of Cruella at the last minute, memorising her lines perfectly a day before the performance. But all great people have great teachers. Ms. Visocchi, head of the Stratford Drama Club has helped and encouraged all the members of the crew to give their all. Without her guidance, the drama club would be in shambles.

After a very successful year, the drama crew hopes to see everyone next year!
