On Thursday 11th December, our school football team recorded a huge 2-1 victory against James' Street CBS, a result that guarantees us a place in the next round of the competition, no matter what happens in the final group game, writes captain Ianis (3rd Year).

The match was intense throughout the 70 minutes, with every line putting in an outstanding performance, particularly the defence. From the very first whistle to the last, everyone stayed organised, worked hard, and both defended and attacked as one unit. James' Street pushed hard in the second half, scoring a free kick in the dying minutes, and then nearly equalising in the final play of the game, but we held on and showed composure under pressure.

Both goals were special moments for us. Brodie scored his first goal for Stratford with an excellent header, before Emmet added a second, also his first, making it a day neither will forget. The celebrations reflected how much it meant to the whole team.

This win, yet again, showed the mentality, the desire, and the togetherness within the squad, and "securing qualification for the first time in Stratford's history" (said Thomas O'Reilly post-game) is something everyone involved should be proud of.

Squad: Ianis (Captain), Luke, Vihaan, Thomas, John-Luke, Emmet, Roberto, Brodie, Dylan, John, Cathal and Liam.

Also, a huge thanks to Thomas, the coach, Jim-Bob, the assistant, and Lucy and Abby from TY for the help. Credit to Lucy (TY) for the photos.
