NEWS / 8 January 2026

Big congratulations to the Senior Debate team, Captain Skye Deans, Joseph Mudrak, Amelie Gibbons, Anna O'Donovan, Ciara Daly and Julia Coakley, on winning their 3rd Round Debate in the Concern Debate Competition against St Andrew's College, Blackrock.

The motion was 'Global commitments to ending world hunger are a load of hot air' for which our team was the Proposition. Unfortunately the team did not proceed to the next round of in-person debates, but will attend a Concern run debating workshop in February, and continue competing in friendly debates with local schools nearby, including the High School and St Colmcilles, alongside the junior team.

Well done to the seniors on all their research, impressive critical thinking skills and quick reasoning, and above all such teamwork and professionalism on display consistently during the three debates. A shout out too to the junior team who supported the seniors with their preparation, and chairperson Cathal Whelan and timekeepers Cian Gray and Anna Flynn!
