How to Make A Movie - the TY Irish and Art experience

NEWS / 26 January 2011

The TYs made a movie in Irish and Art classes - Cailleacha Underbury written by John Connolly. Jake Regan describes what they had to do to make it.

TY Film Cailleacha UnderburyWe made a movie, 'Cailleacha Underbury', as a cross-curricular project in Irish and Art. It was a great experience. Starting from scratch, we looked at how movies should be made, wrote out scripts and acted out the movie. This was challenging, but everyone felt it helped with their Irish a lot.

Afterwards came the editing. It was a tedious procedure, but also enjoyable, interesting and definitely gave us a much better idea of what really goes into movie making. We had an opportunity to use iMovie Maker, and made great use of it, including dubbing, subtitles, cutting and multiplying scenes etc. It was an enjoyable and helpful project, and we all utilised our skills in both Irish and Art.  Click on thumbnail to open an enlarged version of photo. ))))
