The annual TY Mini-Olympics was held on Monday, 19th May 2014.

Our annual TY mini Olympics took place on Monday, 19th May 2014. As Helios smiled down on those competing, students excelled as they strived for Olympic glory. (Click on blog title to see more photos.)

This year, students participated in a long distance race, a stade (ancient Greek short distance sprint 200m), discus, javelin and finally a race carrying 8 kilos. The final race is the most exciting and reflects the race ancient Greeks ran in all their armour at Olympia.

Thanks to all of TY who participated and congratulations for our crowned victors this year: Nike (Kate) and Glaucus (Niall). We had a breath-taking finish for the boys’ stade, with an Olympian fall at the end. Thankfully, Aesclepius was minding us on the day and nobody was injured too badly.

Thanks also to Miss Finnegan who set up the different events and was a true pro at demonstrating each of the events for us.

Ms. Donohoe
