Well done to the 1st Year Computer Studies class - five Scratch group projects were invited to compete in the 2026 Young Environmentalist Awards ECO-Den semi-finals in Airfield Estate on Wednesday, 11th March. We took the S4 bus and LUAS to get there and back!

The sustainability development issues that the 1st year groups presented to the panel of judges was as follows:

  • Ellen F, Bella, Ronan - We are making a Scratch project with 3-6 different minigames that outline the issues with the environment, such as: A recycling game, a game where you have to clean the oceans etc.
  • Giorgi, Liam, Yair - We are making a Scratch project with the theme of waste and recycling to encourage users to pick up litter so that they understand more about how they can reuse some materials and clean the environment along the way.
  • Izzy, Ethan, Alona - We are doing our project on pollution. We will create an interactive game to teach people about climate change and how we can help. This will be done with Scratch. Our theme is climate change and what it can do to our world. Our project will be aimed at children aged 7+.
  • David, Luca, Isabel - We our making a scratch project with the theme of transport to educate users how to travel safely and sustainably so that they understand more about transport
  • Joshua, Daniel, Abi - A game about picking up litter, that progresses as you play the game.

We should find out the results by late April! Fingers crossed.
