Colaiste Uisce, 2nd & 6th Year trip!

Colaiste Uisce Oct 2025
NEWS / 30 October 2025

On the 22nd of October Stratford’s Second and Sixth years took an exciting trip to Coláiste Uisce in Co. Mayo.

Check out this short video which really captures the fun!

Our days were busy from the moment we woke up till the moment our heads hit the pillows, but every second of it was enjoyed. We partook in many activities, both in and out of the water. The water activities were pier jumping, paddleboarding, swimming and bodyboarding, a favourite amongst the group. On land, we did Archery, climbing, human foosball, life-sized board games and lots of table tennis. After the activities we were all famished, our hunger was erased in an instant as the chefs there prepared delicious meals. Despite the mixed weather we still got into the water. We loved every second of it, but we also loved the hot showers afterwards! In our Irish class we expanded our vocabulary, learning new words for the activities we did, then wrote and performed scripts as Gaeilge that included the new vocabulary.

On the first night a Céilí was held, six dances were learned, and everyone had a ball.  Between the activities, food and classes everyone had a blast and would go back again!

Ar an 22ú Deireadh Fomhair chuaigh daltaí ón dara agus ón séú bhliain i gColáiste Stratford ar thuras iontach chuig Coláiste Uisce i gContae Mhaigh Eo ar feadh trí lá.

Bhí na laethanta fíor-gnóthach on am a dhuisíomar go dti gur bhuail ár gcinn an bpilúir. Bhí gach soicind an spéisúil. Ghlac muid páirt i go leor imeachtaí san uisce agus ar an talamh. Bhí SUP, léim ón gcé, clár coirp mar na gníomhaíochtaí uisce. Ar an talamh rinneamar boghdóireacht, leadóig bhoird, dreapadóireacht, peil boird le daoine mar na píosaí, cluichí boird ollmhóra ar nós ceangail 4.

Tar éis na gíomhaíochtaí bhíomar stíugtha leis an ocras.

Bhí na cocairí ar fheabhas agus ní raibh mórán bia fághta. Bhí an aimsir mheascatha ach fós chuamar san uisce gach lá. Bhain muid an sult as, in ainneoin an fhuachta. Thaitin na citheanna te go mór linn i ndiaidh sin! Sa rang gaeilge bhí ár bhfoclóir leathnaithe. Rinneamar script leis na focail nua do na himeachtaí.

Ar an gcéad oíche bhí céilí againn tar éis an dinnéir.Rinneamar sé rince nua. Bhain muid an- taitneamh as.

Idir na gníomhaíochtaí, an bia agus na ranganna, bhí turas iontach againn agus ba bhreá linn dul ar ais!
