Beautiful Children’s Books created by TY English students

Ms. Reynolds expresses her delight with the children's books created by TY English students. Browse through them in the Flipbooks.

We're delighted with the success of the new Co-Curricular Children's Writing module in the TY Art and English Programme. Taking on board the feedback we got from last year's TY group that said they'd like more creative writing, we developed this new course. After the birth of my first child, I fell in love with Children's Literature. I was so impressed and surprised by the artistic and literary skill that's involved in creating a children's book that I decided to introduce this genre to our TY students, through a series of writers' workshops. Students analysed numerous works from writers and illustrators such as Micheal Rosen, Shirley Hughes, Martin Waddell and Janet and Allan Ahlberg; identifying their rhyming schemes, use of imagery, repetition, rhythm and figurative language. Once they had their final drafts of their stories completed they then proceeded to illustrate them in Art class. Please enjoy perusing through their beautiful books in the two Flipbooks below.
