Speaking about the appointment Principal, Mr. Barrett said: “I am thrilled that Ms Donohoe has been appointed to this role. While she has held the role in an ‘acting’ capacity since I joined the College, the term acting does not do justice to the person that Delia is. Her dedication to learning and passion for young people means that she is an outstanding teacher and leader in Stratford College. I look forward to continuing to work closely together with Delia in leading Stratford College into the future.
A passionate educator, Delia has taught Classics since joining the school and spent 15 years as Head of the Support Department, where she played a central role in fostering inclusive learning and student support. Her commitment to education extends beyond Stratford: she has worked with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) on the design of both the current Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Classics specifications. In her role as the current CAI-T Classical Studies representative, she will also contribute to the NCCA working group for tranche 5 Senior Cycle Classics.
Delia has further supported teaching and learning nationally through her work as an associate with Oide (formerly PSDT). Within Stratford College, she has collaborated closely with the Head of Wellbeing to develop the Bi Cineáltas policy, helping to ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment for all students.
In May 2025, Delia completed the Lasair programme—Supporting Principals and Deputy Principals as Instructional Leaders—alongside Principal Nathan Barrett, further strengthening her leadership capacity.
Speaking about her appointment, Delia said: “I am really looking forward to continuing to work with all of our school community, focusing on our core values of confidence, courage and care. Stratford College is a truly unique school with a rich and enriching legacy which I am very proud to be part of.”
