While a fascinating age-blind decision to cast Marie Mullan as Lady Macbeth prompted great post-show discussions, it was the lurking prevalence of evil in the cloaked witches, and the religious iconography of the ghostly crucifix that really helped students visualise the major themes of ambition and power in the play, and remind them of its cultural context, written in the aftermath of the Gunpower Plot in 1606.
Students' views were conflicted over the effectiveness of the bare set and the costumes and proxemics of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, however we all agreed Aidan and Aaron brought excellent style and greatly elevated our evening out!
