34 students and parents attended the Web Summit for Schools in the RDS Simmonscourt Complex on Tuesday evening, 3rd November. Students from 1st Year to 6th Year were represented. Ross Smith (2nd Year) and Eva Corrigan (1st Year) report back on their experience of the evening.

On Tuesday, 3rd November some of Stratford College's students went to the 2015 Web Summit. We went to the School Summit in the RDS, Simmonscourt Pavilion.

There were three main speakers on the night. Riley Ennis who starteda biotech company "Immudicon" which is developing a cancer vaccine. There was also Scott Harrison who turned his life around by going on a volunteer service in Africa. After seeing so many people drinking dirty water he decided to found Charity: Water, a non-profit charity focusing on bringing the people of Africa clean water. He was my favourite speaker. And lastly there were two kids (who I've forgotten the names of) showing their business idea, the Bully Bug. It is a bracelet you wear that when you press a button on it, it sends a message to a teacher's phone showing you are being bullied.

I loved going to the Web Summit - hopefully I can go again someday.

Eva Corrigan (1st Year)

I really enjoyed the Web Summit 2015. It was an amazing experience. I was expecting it to be a boring conference or something, but it was far from that. It was brilliant and very interesting. The evening consisted of three main speakers all with fascinating stories and ideas to share. I was very glad I went because I probably will never get an opportunity like it in a long time.
