Ms. Reynolds explains what is involved in the TY Public Speaking module.

Ever wanted to learn Sign Language or Bulgarian? If so, then this year's TY English class is where you should be! This Public Speaking Module has been enormously successful. Firstly, each student must first perform one minute speech à la TED talks style. Paul Stafford stole the show, surprising us all with a stellar talk on the value of posters in contemporary society! Their next task is to teach a skill. They must introduce the topic, explain it, allow for student participation and surmise the main points. They are provided with a marking scheme and they must apply it to each demonstration. Some of the highlights to date have been a Tuba class, a lesson on Social Psychology and a Wood Turning Demonstration. Their result will form 10 % of their Summer Exam.
