The two judges - TU Dublin Computer Science lecturer, Brian Gillespie and SciFest Project Manager, Hugo Rowsome - joined the classroom online. Each of the five groups shared out their screen to explain and demonstrate their Scratch projects, including their design process and the technical challenges that they faced.
The standard of all the projects and presentations was extremely high. After considerable deliberation by the judges the following groups were awarded prizes:
1st Prize: Brendan, Josh, Hugo (with their ground-breaking use of webcam and Wii-like exercise game)
2nd Prize: Yoan, Charlie, Luke (with an extremely involved Junior Cycle quiz game)
AbbVie Young Innovator Award: Phoenix, Sam, Praise (with a super-charged solar-system game)
Well done also to Daniel, Dean and Tyrese who developed a very detailed Parkour game; and to Leo, Alex and Christopher who developed an innovative maze game.
The next stage will be the SciFest@College competition in May 2022.
