The TYs were busy this week getting up extremely early (4.30am early) on Thursday 17th September to participate in the Rite Journey's 'Departure Ceremony'. On Friday, 18th September they spent the morning in JumpZone. The TY Weekly editors - Ianis, Matthew B and Vihaan - report in detail.

Starting Our Morning The ‘Rite’ Way
This week, we TYs and our parents came together bright and early on a Thursday morning to take part in The Rite Journey’s ‘Departure Ceremony,’ where we had to arrive at the Larch Hill Scout Centre for a 5.45am start. Although we were fighting drowsiness due to a lack of sleep, we were all still excited from the uncertainty of what lay ahead.

After we settled into the morning cold and all was ready, we embarked on the process of psychologically separating from our childhood as we enter our journey into adulthood. We found the experience to be a full-circle moment, filled with lots of emotion from both ourselves and our parents. Following the ceremony, we were treated to a lovely breakfast at the school before making our way home.

We are very thankful to Mr. Kelly, Mr. Barrett, Ms. Donohoe and Ms. Finnegan for coordinating the ‘Departure Ceremony’ and to the other teachers who assisted. We are eager yet apprehensive for what is to come.

Bouncing Around at JumpZone

On a Friday, ready for some fun, we made our way to the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre to enjoy this week’s trip at JumpZone. After bouncing back from an early start the day before, we were ecstatic to jump at the opportunity.

After arriving at JumpZone, we donned our socks and were let loose as we got the chance to try out our flips and tricks on the trampolines. Yet, we soon began a highly competitive game of dodgeball before making our way to the balance beam “gladiatorial fights,” where we each stepped up to challenge one another.

At the end of our visit, we were treated to some quick refreshments before being stripped of our grip socks and making our way home. We would like to thank Ms. Gower and Ms. Finnegan for organising the day, as well as supervising our trip alongside Ms. Mitchell and Mr. Morgan.
