When I first wrote up the idea of The Urban Revolution, I had no idea that it was actually going to be accepted as a project for the BT Young Scientist Exhibition. It came as a shock to me when it was accepted. The team consists of Conor Allen (TY), Fearghal Kelleher (TY) and myself. Our plan—The Urban Revolution—is to prove that an increase in the number of vegetables grown, poultry and bee-keeping in Dublin would not just be beneficial to the environment but also for the grower’s pocket. To add to this, the team wants to show that you don’t need a giant plot of land to grow vegetables—you can grow vegetables in your garden, on an allotment and even on the balcony of an apartment. We plan to prove this through a number of surveys. The hard work has just begun.
