Mark Paul, business journalist for the Sunday Times, visited Stratford on Monday, 22nd October to talk to Senior students about journalism.

A multiple award winning journalist for the Sunday Times, Mark Paul visited Stratford College on Monday, 23rd October to talk to our Senior students about journalism as a profession and to offer insights into how to write an engaging article, interview and opinion piece.  After his talk he ran a workshop for our TY students in order to edit their submissions for the National Press Pass Competition. One student remarked that she would now consider studying journalism based on what Mark Paul stated were the key skills required. He asserted that being able to question critically and to develop contacts were essential skills as opposed to being able to write and being an expert in a field. This information surprised many students as most of them assumed that they would need the latter skill set in order to excel in journalism.  (Click on blog title to see more photos.)
