Stratford College selected as Phase 1 school for Leaving Certificate Drama, Film and Theatre Studies

In mid-May Stratford College was successful in its application to be a Phase One school to introduce Leaving Certificate Drama, Film and Theatre Studies (DFTS) from the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. This is thrilling news!

The draft specification for DFTS is available on the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA) website. Some of the many benefits of this new Leaving Certificate subject include:

  • Enhanced creativity and expression
  • Critical analysis and appreciation
  • Practical skills and collaboration
  • Cultural and social awareness

Drama, Film and Theatre Studies (DFTS) also affords opportunities for students such as pathways to further education, career opportunities and personal development.

A ‘School Zone’ road surface sign is being painted directly on Zion Road on the northern side of the turn for Victoria Road. This is to advise motorists they are in a School Zone and to drive accordingly.
