Senior English/History students go see Lance Daly film, "Black 47"

NEWS / 30 September 2018

Last Friday, 28th September, all our senior students traipsed down to the Omniplex in Rathmines to assess Lance Daly's new film, "Black 47".

We're analysing this text for Daly's vision of the famine and how he communicated this to his audience. We'll be comparing this text to Colin Murphy's novel, 'Boycott', (also set during the famine) for their routes through fictionalising a tragic historical event. Mr Murphy is due to visit our school on Wednesday, 3rd October, to discuss these questions and more with our sixth years. Please check out Rory Glynn's (a 5th year student) astute and remarkably insightful review of Daly's film on his blog. Enjoy!
