I took part in a live, televised Multi-Faith Commemoration programme for 9/11 , held in the Dublin Fire Brigade Training Centre, Marino, Malihide Road, Dublin. I was representing the Jewish Community along with Ms. Charry. I read an excerpt from the Diary of Anne Frank, which was really moving:
"It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, becasue they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, becasue in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.I simply can't build my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death."
I was very nervous, and everyone there was rushing around calling to each other, but everyone was very helpful and one woman in particular gave me some very good advice on how to read my piece. It was a bit overwhelming to say the least, but it was a very nice experience to have. Overall, I think people, including me, got a better look at what happened on that day, September 11th 2001. I'm proud to be Jewish and American and I'm not afraid to show it.
