5th Year English student, Ciara Harrison, recounts the trip to see the play "A Tender Thing" which is an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" on Monday, 10th February.

On Monday, 10th February the majority of the 4th and 5th Year English classes attended the production of "A Tender Thing" at the Project Arts Theatre. We were accompanied by the Principal, Ms. Gordon and the Drama teacher, Ms. Coogan. "A Tender Thing" is an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" starring a brilliant Olwen Fourere and Owen Roe. I had the pleasure of meeting both actors after the play"
Ciara Harrison (5th Year)

‘Sirens’ production of ‘A Tender Thing’ was both emotionally moving and powerful, yet still managed to keep all the quiet subtleties needed to make a beautiful love story. The most gripping part of ‘A Tender Thing’ was Olwen Fouére’s inspiring role as an ageing, dying woman. Her connection with the other lead Owen Roe was truly touching. Although the shadow of death looms, their love is beautifully tender, adult and emotionally demanding.

‘A Tender Thing’ is a profoundly moving piece of theatre, with insightful direction by Selina Cartmell. I would recommend this play to anybody who believes in true love.
