English Department Observation from Visiting Swedish Teachers

April2026 Visiting S Wteachers Observing English 1
NEWS / 17 April 2026

During mid April, the English department was delighted to welcome two English teachers from Luleå in the north of Sweden. They came as part of the Erasmus programme, specifically to observe how English is taught in an English-speaking country.

Anna and Maria observed a variety of English classes over two days, and were also welcomed to a tour of the Synagogue by Rabbi Wieder. We were fascinated to learn about the similarities and differences between both education systems, in particular the wide range of subjects - 16 to be precise - that students are exposed to in middle school in Sweden. We were honoured to host them, and look forward to a reciprocal exchange in the not-too-distant future!
