Report on "The Call of the Wild' book trailer by Julie Cahill.

Introduction: The purpose of this report is to give an account of my experiences of a book trailer. The task was to create a book trailer on 'The Call of the Wild'. Our teacher split us into groups to all work on the book trailer.
Overview: My short but educational trip into the world of making a book trailer was educational but also very recreational. We learned about many things like cinematography, editing, different types of  software, managing information and most importantly we learnt how to work well in groups. There were a few set backs, yet through effective team work we managed to overcome them together. On the first day of producing our book trailer we were given a task sheet. The task sheet set out a detailed programme on how to develop a book trailer. Making a book trailer is a great part of the second year programme, as it allows students  to be creative and to have different ways of learning, despite that I would have liked to have more time to create this book trailer.
Information: (the main body of the report) In preparation for working well in groups, we took  part in a murder mystery. In this murder mystery game each group had to solve who murdered this man in the story. Each person received several clues to read out to the team, by the end each team should have solved the answer.

We didn't have enough time in school to progress with the book trailer so our group met up afterschool and sometimes we had to meet up on the weekends.
Conclusion: (problems encountered) We faced numerous difficulties during the making of our book trailer, which included getting permission from our parents  to stay after school to work on our book trailer and sometimes we had to ask permission to meet up on the weekends and another problem was agreeing on our roles like the cinematographer, director, editor and the voice over. The biggest problem that we encountered was our equipment and the finding of a reliable software that you could edit photos, import photos and videos and to add a voice over. With the help of our cinematographer we managed to find a very good software which is called 'Splice'.
Recommendations: I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect of the the second year course, although it was challenging it was rewarding. I would recommend to use your time wisely and to make sure that all the people in the group are contributing.

... and the book trailer itself ...
