6th Year English students use Puppet Pal summary to disentangle plot of Wuthering Heights

Puppet Pal Summary
NEWS / 22 October 2013

On Thursday, 17th October the 6th Year English class used a Puppet Pal summary to understand the workings of the Wuthering Heights plot.

In order to take some of the tedium out of plot revision, I presented my 6th year students with a home made, albeit slightly shaky, Puppet Pal version of their comparative novel. Hopefully my 'creative powers', will be enough to inject some enthusiasm into the revision process. Using technology to revise, also aids recall and comprehension, as visual and audio learners will have their learning strengths met.

This is a screen shot from a Puppet Pal summary of 'Wuthering Heights', that was used to reacquaint their minds with this, at times, confusing plot. Next they were provided with a breakdown of each main section in the plot. They had to extract the main insight and quote in relation to two analytical questions, plotting their answers out chronologically on a table mat worksheet. Each group had to present to the class their particular findings. This form of co-operative learning establishes working with others as the norm.
