Caught out on a cold, April morning, the 5th year Biology students, accompanied by their teacher, Ms. O’ Sullivan, found themselves huddled together out in the middle of Phoenix Park for their annual ecology field trip.
Clutching onto their quadrats, lux meters, and pH scales, the 5th year students discussed –through chattering teeth- the different factors that they had studied which affect the nature of the globe’s habitats and ecosystems.
When the science had been completed, and the dreadful weather had decided to pick up, the group’s guide from Dublin Zoo’s Education Centre led them back to the Zoo itself, where what little remained of the busy day was spent watching the Zoo’s new-born baby Indian Elephants, the curious Meerkats, and the Proud Gorilla family in their new state of the art enclosure.
