The 5th Years just completed a casting and painting project focussing on bike safety. They took apart a bike and recreated using the casting and moulding process. They then painted their objects and created a still life composition using the objects in order to complete a still life drawing study.
Ms. Murphy
For the past four weeks, the 5th Year art class has been taught by a student teacher, Ms. Murphy - past pupil from Stratford College. She devised a project in which we disassembled a child's bike, made plaster casts of the different parts, then painted the finished products and drew a still life of them. The process was very messy and took a while - for some more than others.
However the finished pieces looked amazing and the drawings were fantastic. it was a very interesting project as we were creating the pieces for our still life rather than just drawing random objects.
Overall it was a brilliant project and we're thankful to Ms. Murphy for teaching us.
